Accessible Tech Highlight: The Phonak TV Connector
For years my mom complained that we mumbled. We insisted we were speaking loudly and she insisted we were mealy-mouthed and whispering. When she finally got hearing aids, we rejoiced! As great as they can be, hearing aids aren’t a panacea. She still has trouble hearing us at times, concerts can be overwhelming, and the TV still needs to be blasting.
I can face her when speaking and she can adjust her audio settings for shows, but for years we had no solution for the TV volume. It was never high enough for her and never low enough for me, but recently she bought the Phonak TV Connector and it’s been a game-changer.
The Phonak TV Connector (I’m not sponsored, I just love this product) plugs into your TV and connects with your bluetooth-enabled hearing aids. You get the TV audio directly into your hearing aids (with the ability to adjust your own volume), while others can set the TV volume separately. When we were watching TV before the Phonak TV Connector, we had the volume at a 25. Now that we have the connector, I can listen at an 11 while my mom can still hear everything perfectly. It’s been great and I highly recommend it for anyone with bluetooth-enabled hearing aids.
