Disability Organization Highlight: Access 2 Community and Friendship

One of the hardest parts about disability is how inaccessible fun things can be. But Access 2 Community and Friendship is changing that.

Access 2 Community and Friendship is a social group for young adults with and without disabilities. They organize accessible outings and help self-advocates build community and friendships. In addition to finding friends, participating in these groups can help boost self-advocates’ self-esteem and develop their leadership skills.

I learned about Access 2 Community and Friendship from my friend and colleague at MASS Austin Carr. He told me, “We have lots of fun getting together and meeting new people. We dod a variety of activities out in the community as well.”
